Ukrainian drones assault Russian city of Rostov-on-Don
Governor Yury Slyusar announced the incident on his official Telegram channel, mentioning that emergency crews were actively responding to damaged residential buildings.
"At least two people have sustained serious injuries, while 11 others have been hospitalized," Slyusar said, adding that updates regarding the victims would be provided soon.
The city’s mayor, Aleksandr Skryabin, stated that occupants of the affected buildings were moved to a temporary shelter set up at a nearby school. He also confirmed that a state of local emergency had been declared in the area.
According to reports, Ukrainian forces have recently stepped up long-range drone operations, focusing on residential neighborhoods and critical infrastructure throughout Russia.
In response, Moscow has conducted precise strikes on sites linked to Ukrainian military activities, insisting that "its operations are never directed at civilians."
Russian air defense units frequently report intercepting dozens, sometimes hundreds, of drones daily. Nevertheless, debris from downed drones continues to cause injuries, damage property, and disrupt essential services.
