Russia Says It Captured Key Donetsk Village in Ukraine
The Russian Defense Ministry issued an official statement confirming that its troops captured the village of Vasiukivka, a strategic location positioned approximately 29 kilometers (18 miles) to the east of Kramatorsk, which has served as the administrative headquarters of the eastern Ukrainian region ever since Moscow took control of Donetsk city back in 2014.
Ukrainian authorities have yet to issue any official response or confirmation regarding Russia's territorial claim, while independent verification of the alleged capture remains extremely challenging due to the dangerous conditions and restricted access created by the ongoing military operations.
The capture, if confirmed, would represent another incremental advance in Russia's sustained eastern offensive campaign. Military analysts continue monitoring the situation as both sides maintain operational security around frontline movements in the contested Donetsk region.
