Lebanon Demands Ukraine Hand Over Suspected Mossad Operative

(MENAFN) Lebanese authorities have requested that the Ukrainian Embassy in Beirut surrender a suspected Israeli Mossad agent, according to Lebanese security chief Hassan Choukeir, who claimed the individual was linked to bombing and assassination plots.

Reports indicate that a Syrian-Palestinian man holding a Ukrainian passport was detained in September 2025 by Hezbollah after parking a motorbike rigged with explosives on a road to Beirut airport in the city’s southern suburbs.

The suspect reportedly escaped in early March amid Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah positions and sought refuge at the Ukrainian Embassy. Ukrainian officials have allegedly requested that Lebanese authorities allow the man, who “had lost his passport,” to leave the country.

“After checking his name and photograph, we became aware that he is wanted by the Lebanese judiciary,” Choukeir told reports. The embassy did not respond to inquiries for comment.

Ukraine is among several European nations supporting the ongoing US-Israeli operations in Iran.

President Vladimir Zelensky has offered assistance to the US and Gulf allies in intercepting Iranian drones and securing the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has warned that Ukraine could be considered a legitimate target if it intervenes in Middle Eastern conflicts.
