Ukraine Seeks Talks with Poland After Dispute Over Military Unit Name
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha says the unit’s name is chosen by soldiers who “had not the slightest anti-Polish intentions.”
He adds, “Their aim was to honor those who, many years ago, also fought against imperial Moscow, Bolshevik-communist occupation and repression,” writing on X.
Sybiha urges both sides to “reduce the level of emotions,” leaving historical disputes to historians and focusing on their “common enemy” while strengthening European security.
He also says that escalation between Ukraine and Poland brings no benefit to either country, according to reports.
